Why Brand Strategy?
A lot of small business owners might ask - “Why do I need a brand strategy? I’m not a big corporation with many moving parts; we just need to get customers in the door.”
I’m sure this isn’t you, but many small business owners think their purpose and value is very clear: to provide a service or product that you love and are passionate about to an audience that will also benefit from said service/product. However, therein lies the biggest challenge: what value DOES your product or service bring to your audience?
The difference between effectively telling that story and not could be the difference between a business succeeding or failing. As you know, audiences are being lambasted with messages on a minute-by-minute basis, with brands vying for their time and resources. If your business doesn’t stick out with a clear story on the value you bring your audience, they most likely won’t pay attention.
That’s why we at Rooted focus so strongly on building your brand value statement - so not just you - but every employee, loyal customer, partner, and even prospective customer can clearly communicate and understand why they should walk through your door. Then, once they experience the value themselves, they will be equipped to share that value with others (i.e. referral marketing - one of the best kinds!).
When we work with our clients to develop brand and marketing strategy, here are some of the questions we’ll work with you to answer:
What is your business’s purpose (i.e. why do you exist)?
What’s the passion behind the business? Opening a small business can be scary - what caused you to take that leap? What difference do you want to make? All of these and more are questions we’ll consider as we develop this foundational part of your brand.
What are your business values?
What characteristics and beliefs drive how you do business? How would a customer describe their interactions with your brand? We’ll develop a list describing how you want your customers to perceive your business.
What is your vision?
We’re talking legacy here. What do you envision one year, five years, 20 years from now? How will your community, your customers, your personal lives be different because your business exists?
What is your mission statement?
Keeping your vision front and center, how will you get there? Using action words, we’ll develop your plan of action.
